Our Subscribers Say...
I think Credit Today is fantastic. You cover many practical topics in the credit field that I use regularly. Just one recent example—a conversation on the ListServ about preferential payments—gave me tips that I used in an actual case. The specific information I picked up from this one discussion saved me $10,000, enough to cover my membership for many years!
- Steve Savino
Manager of Credit & Collections, ASSA Abloy Americas Division, New Haven, CT
Credit Today's Resource Directory and their online e-mail forum (ListServ) provide information on almost any credit-related topic you can think of. It is a great way to exchange information with other credit professionals. As the saying goes, "You don't know what you don't know."
- Scott Goen,
Credit Manager, Big Lots Stores, Inc., Wholesale Division
"We've recently started using the ListServ tool within Credit Today. This is phenomenal and powerful forum for gaining immediate feedback, ideas, and suggestions, relative to any credit topic under the sun, all in a real-time e-mail format."
-Javier Vela, Senior Credit Manager, Global Credit Services, JDA Software Group Inc.
"Being a part of the Credit Today online community is like having the expertise of hundreds of credit managers at your fingertips. These credit execs are willing to help you solve topical business issues as they arise. In the current environment of ever increasing competing priorities which reduce our opportunities to meet peers out of the office face-to-face, this is the most valuable tool you can have on your desktop! It's important that we have a mechanism to reach out to our counterparts quickly to exchange knowledge as well as to stay on top of industry trends."
- Victoria Artis, Director of Customer Financial Services, Pfizer, Inc.
"Over the last 10 years I've seen Credit Today evolve from a monthly credit publication into a quality source of information and guidance for the B2B credit community. The website, with its user friendly form downloads, will take you from examples of new account credit applications to bankruptcy forms and everything in between.
The Credit Today ListServ has become the pre-eminent online forum, providing an opportunity for discussion and comments (and occasional humor) from an impressive list of credit professionals."
David Dungan, Director of Credit
Justin Brands, Inc. (A Berkshire Hathaway company)

"There are numerous credit periodicals available to the credit professional today. How good is Credit Today? Is it relevant? I always have to read it late, or online because my credit analysts want to read it the minute it comes in. When my staff wants to read a publication before I have a chance to read it then something is working in that publication. We have cancelled our other subscriptions. When you have the best you do not need the rest."
Ron Woods
Corporate Credit Manager-World Wide
Thales Navigation, Inc.
"The newsletter, coupled with the website and the ListServ, are to us, more valuable than any other credit publication, bar none. I try to use at least one article out of each newsletter for departmental training/discussion sessions."

"I love Credit Today and read every issue cover to cover. For me, the greatest perk of a subscription is ListServ. I believe Credit Today's ListServ members may be the most knowledgeable Credit brain trust in existence today. I have saved and categorized hundreds of contributions on a wide variety of topics which I refer to often. It's an easy and cost effective way to network and learn."

Credit Card Central
Not too long ago, it was uncommon for trade creditors to accept credit cards in the normal course of business, but that's changing rapidly in today's world. There are many issues surrounding the acceptance of credit cards that are important for credit execs to understand.
Credit cards can be a powerful tool to aid in collections and as a way to help market your product, but you'll need to be educated about them when setting up a program.

Is there a company out there that can process virtual card payments for companies efficiently and cost effectively? February 13, 2013
We are seeing an increasing number of companies utilizing a virtual card program of some type to pay their invoices. However, we currently utilize a lockbox to post our customer payments; thus, we have to manually apply these payments in house, increasing our labor costs and credit card fees, not to mention that we run the risk of PCI compliance issues with credit card numbers. Is anyone else having this issue? How are you handling these customers? Is there a company out there that can process these types of payments for companies efficiently and cost effectively? . . .

Dispatch From the Credit Front: Taking the Bite Out of the Swipe
That two to three percent you've been giving up each time you accept payment by credit card may be a thing of the past. But it's up to you to notify VISA or MasterCard that you're taking advantage of the settlement of a class action case that has now been tentatively approved by a New York federal court after nearly a decade of litigation. . . .

Can anyone share with me their corporate requirements with respect to company credit card usage and/or expense filing requirements? October 23, 2012
One of my many duties is maintaining our Corporate Credit Card program (employees who have a Corporate Visa Card) and our Expense and Travel system. While receipts are obviously required for turn in on the card use, or when filing an expense report to get reimbursed, we have not required the 'detail' portion of the receipts, such as those at a restaurant. Currently it is acceptable to turn in the receipt that has the sub total, tip and total with the name on it, etc. I am bucking for the requirement of detailed receipts. Here is my question…can anyone share with me their corporate requirements with respect to company credit card usage and/or expense filing requirements, be it a policy your company may have that can be separately emailed to me; or, if you could briefly let me know what your company requires. . . .

Can anyone tell me how they handle their credit card process? June 7, 2012
My company currently does not accept credit cards because they do not want the risk of having someone's credit card on file in our office. I feel as if we are one of the only companies that do not take credit cards in this day in age. Can anyone tell me how they handle their credit card process? Another option is to allow B2B to go into a website and place their own order and pay by credit card (therefore we would never have to see credit card #'s) but then we would have to reserve inventory specifically for this type of B2B transaction as we have accepted pmt and need to ensure we have the inventory to sell. . . .

Does anyone have any experience with the Merchant Relief Council? June 6, 2012
We have been approached by the audit firm, Merchant Relief Council to help us with our credit card processing fees. Does anyone have any experience with this firm? They have presented us with a proposal that promises us substantial savings, and, before we bring them on board, we want to ensure that they do deliver on what they promise. . . .

Does anyone keep credit card information on customers' files? How do you ensure their protection? April 27, 2012
Does anyone keep credit card information on customers' files? How do you ensure their protection? We have customers that ask us to keep their credit card info on file, and I am not comfortable with any and everyone having access to it. Due to the way we process our sales, several people need to see the information in order to process the sale, and I would like to find a way to better protect this sensitive data. . . .

What's your company's policy on issuing corporate credit cards to employees? February 23, 2012
I am not only in charge of credit but also responsible for payables and, amongst other things, our corporate credit card program. We are in the midst of changing it and also are addressing a number of other related topics, including cash advances for employees. As you can imagine, this can get to a point that it takes a lot of time and is somewhat dicey. Who should be allowed corporate cards? Is there an agreement signed between the employee assigned a card and the company? Do you allow cash advances? Or, do you not use corporate cards and expenses are simply filed and reimbursed? Do you have a separate written policy within your company concerning this topic? Whatever feedback I could receive would really assist me. My boss, our CFO, and I are working on refining all of this and he suggested that I put this out to the group in hopes of seeing how other companies are handling it in today's environment. I know that this is a topic that is constantly changing. . . .
